Management of Cultural Differences.
In using Hofstede four keys to understand this concept, we would have look at the dominant cultural traits in that location and how they might affect the work place and these traits are individualism versus collectivism, power distance and how power is distributed, uncertainty avoidance and finally the issues of masculinity. However the Hofstede theories is not all encompassing as cultural diversities and implications in global firms go beyond these four factors as they affect issues that borders on Decision making, Rewards and competition, Risks, Formality, Organizational loyalty and Orientation.
There are four strategies that can be employed by Human Resource manages to manage the issues of global expansion , these strategies are aligned with organizational objectives, missions and goals and they are the geocentric strategy, the regiocentric strategy, the egocentric strategy and the polycentric strategy. |
